If you are on release V5R4 or higher:
Create an outqueue, move the spoolfile(s) into the outqueue and save the outqueue with SAVOBJ.

what version of OS are you on Adam?
All my answers were extracted from the "Big Dummy's Guide to the As400"

sound like v5r3 doesn't support to save outq into the *savf/tape?
        is it true?
        (I don't have V5R3 box to test)

          This was a V5R4 enhancement

You can save the outqueue containing the spoolfile with SAVOBJ

Thanks guy's. I managed to do this by sending the spooled file to an outq and then using a SAVOBJ to save the outq to a *savf and then FTP the *savf to my desktop and then onto the other 400 and then restore the *savf.

                Thanks for your suggestions.
