I can understand the argument for B. But argument for A results from laziness. You can make your page look exactly how you want it with the proper media=print CSS.

Don't be lazy, code the CSS properly and printing won't even be an issue. Happy Monday

I'm not saying you shouldn't use it, but you need a better reason then just printing. Infact it looks like a great way to document pages that aren't designed properly (which are most when talking about printing).

Didn't mean to be grouchy, its just a tired monday since I worked about 20 hours over the weekend.

It does look like a nice too. I didn't realize it was web based and you could just plug in the url and it would do the magic.

Re: Just a tip: Convert a webpage to PDF

I have seen a few pdf pages on websites and am not in favour of it.

One - the search engines cannot get at your source, so the content be searchable.

Two - I cannot see how you can use this technique with dynamic stuff nor with forms.

Three - it is an extra overhead in development - in that you have to keep two versions, a pdf version and a "workable" version.

i only use PDFs where it makes the most sense...but for generating PDFs from a web page (Bryce's comments on CSS really helps with this!) i just use CutePDF and print the web page to a PDF...also since it works as a printer i can print any word doc, etc to PDF for easy distribution...

Just about every software package nowadays comes with a PDFwriter built-in (as a printer). I think Adobe even supply one.

Re: Just a tip: Convert a webpage to PDF

This is a tool to download the contents of a webpage to PDF...
not to put pdf's as content on a site........
Guess you could use it for that but that is not its true function!

Re: Just a tip: Convert a webpage to PDF

                  Another site: http://www.freepdfconvert.com/

and this does even let you convert PDF to Word

About "Embedding PDFs within HTML" Can it be usefull?

The only good use I can see of a PDF example: Embedding a 3D object in a PDF for a webpage
allows you to easily integrate interactive 3D content.

No special plug-ins are required and content is viewable with Adobe Reader 7 or later.

But, if no one use it, this stays old new technology ! (*)
Rembember internet explores VML ? and DX ( directX ) embedded in a webpage?

And what ever happened with Virtual Reality? Wii know it now!

(*) Never forget: old can become very fassionable over time !
I saw in 1998 a example of what we call Ajax on the Microsoft website.
