  • PF DDS compile and data

    Hi!

If I need to make some changes to a PF-DDS for a file with data present is my file still populated after compiling?

    TIA

    Hi

Yes if You use CHGPF with parm SRCFILE, where changes are made.

BUT do like Zdenko said use CHGPF not CRTPF!!! CRTPF will recreate the file which will destroy your data (since the old file is deleted and a new one is created)

        Hi!

Thanks a lot for your quick reply.
Hope to remember it (my age is high and S36-legacies very strong).

Maybe CPYF the data out to a backup file first just to be safe in case something does not go according to plan.

If you're using PDM you might also consider setting up a new option for yourself that does CHGPF rather than CRTPF. CHGPF is also useful if you have already built logical files on your physical, in which case CRTPF will fail.

                Thanks, Ray.

                I'll do something this way.

                Thanks again to all.
