  • What is DB2 version 9?

Well, the short answer is DB2 for the iSeries, although named the same, is not the same animal as the DB2 product IBM sells for Unix/Linux/Windows. The version you're concerned about is the same as the operating system version you're currently on. So if you're on V5R3 of the OS that's the version of DB2 for iSeries you're using.

ah, i think that's why this code doesnt work for me:

I'm using DB2 for iSeries but that code is based on DB2 for Unix/Linux/Windows...

Yep! Might I suggest the IBM iSeries information center:

There you can browse through all the information on DB2 for iSeries. Be sure to look at the second topic under "iSeries Information Center..." called "Connecting to iSeries".
