  • Closing a Client Access session without logging off

    Hi,
Is there any way to tell when a user doesn't log off but instead just clicks the 'X' and closes the window?

I've thought about going to the history log looking for a matching end job message and then doing this or that if not found but expect there's an easier way.

    Red.
Everyday's a school day, what grade are you in?

For us, if a user clicks the "X" a joblog is generated, while a joblog is not generated if they close the session normally.

Do you mean a 5250 session ? If the user closes the 5250 session without signing off, a joblog is usually created, possibly a dump depending on what application they were using on the iSeries at the time. As far as I know, there is nothing else to indicate the user has closed a 5250 session without signing off first which is a bit of a pain as it often leaves their session as being an active job. This problem also occurs when the network "drops" momentarily or a PC reboot or something. Causes a few problems with software user license constraints.
