  • PTF question

    Hello,

I was recently on IBM Support: Fix Central and I ordered my PTF updates. Some of the PTF updates i.e. SI37746 are already applied as Superseded to my iSeries machine.

Do I need to re-apply those PTFs to my O.S environment?

One other question. IBM support believes I need to apply the following PTFs:
    MF56594 5770999@#%
    MF52076 5770999@#%
    MF52183 5770999@#%
    MF52308 5770999@#%
    MF52668 5770999@#%
    MF52991 5770999@#%
    MF53171 5770999@#%
    MF53920 5770999@#%
    MF55837 5770999@#%
    MF56573 5770999@#%
    MF56574 5770999@#%
If I don't have the license program 5770999 installed. Do I still need to apply the PTFs?

What does IBM license program 5770999 do?

    Thanks,

    DAC

    Re: PTF question

5770999 is the licensed internal code of the operating system. You can't run the operating system without it, so I wonder how you don't have it installed?

Perhaps you have an older version? 5770 is 7.1. Maybe you have 6.1, in which case it'd be 5761999?

      Re: PTF question

When I review go licpgm I don't see the 5770999 in my list. Do you normally see it. The iSeries is operational so it must be running.

Correct... since 5770999 is not an optional component you can't decide to install or not install it in GO LICPGM. It's always there (or GO LICPGM would be impossible.)

If you type DSPPTF LICPGM(5770999) it should show you that it's there, and show you the PTFs for it, etc.

Scott, when you say "...licensed internal code of the operating system", are you referring to the "server firmware" LICPGM which is 5733907? We also don't have 5770999 on our 7.1 boxes.

            Re: PTF question

I would expect both 5733-907 and 5770-999 to exist on the box, and neither would show in the list of "licensed programs". However, both should show in the list of software resources; run DSPSFWRSC.

              Hi Tom,

you're right, both are displayed using Display Software Resources, although 5733907 is also displayed on licpgm/10.

Whoa... you're right. Down the list, but it's there. (5733905 on my system due to actual hardware type.) Seems odd, but there it is. I missed it; though I didn't expect to see it, so I didn't watch closely enough.
