  • Transfer Excel Sheet To As400 file

    Hello,
Client Access comes with an add-in that allows one to transfer an excel sheet to the AS400. I am using Client Access 5.5 however, and if I attempt to transfer an excel sheet where a column is in a mm/dd/yyyy date format, the file transfer converts it into a numeric (non-date) value. The "transfer-to" wizard walks thru all of the steps, but when it scans the excel file, it thinks that the date column is numeric.
Has anyone ran into this before?

A couple of thing you can check.

    1) Makesure the format of the cell is date
    2) check the properties. You get a button about 3 or 4 screens in. Check that "Convert Excel date and time cells convert to iSeries date and time" is checked
    3) Check the field details in your send parameters that it is set for date

Client Access 5.7 allows for this, but version 5.5, which I need to use for a special reason, does not.

Are you creating the file on the AS400 first or is excel creating it for you based on the spread sheet definition?
