  • Creating a job

    Hello all.
As i am new to AS400, i got a doubt.
In general , after creating a subsystem, we create a job.
Is there any possibility to create a job not within the subsystem?
    Especially in L 1.

All jobs run in subsystems..... What exactly are you trying to do?
All my answers were extracted from the "Big Dummy's Guide to the As400"

All jobs must run within a subsystem. Even system jobs run within a subsystem.

Yes, you can create a job that's not in the subsystem... it's called Programming!

But, to run that job, you have to tell it WHERE to run. That's called the Subsystem. Now, you can run the job in the Subsystem you created, or the system supplied Subsystems, (Qinter, QBatch, QUsrSys, etc). Where it runs is truly up to Business Rules or Personal Preference. Heck, flip a coin ... the system doesn't care.
