UNDEL2 is a freeware utility which allows you to view, copy and un-delete
deleted records in a physical file. You can interactively display active and
deleted records, scan for deleted records and un-delete them. In addition,
you can copy records to print or to an outfile or un-delete them without
    displaying them.
    save file is @ v5r3 but program CRTUNDEL2 is @ v5r2...
so once you restore just call program CRTUNDEL2 to recreate objects...

kinda a cool tool to have laying around!

just throw a beating on the customer master file by deleting all records using
SQL ...Now That would be a cool test

Just to let you know I did test this and it works just fine!

          Hi Jamie...

Seems there's some difference between your version (243KB) and mine (227KB).
Dont know why, but Dave has pushed his latest version (as far as I know) to my
          site: Think400

            Hi Jamie,

I have tried deleting few records from a file and performed UNDEL2 on those records in the file. The status did changed to Active but the contents are still appearing as Blanks for character fields and 0's for numeric fields. The iSeries I am using is on V5R4M0. Any leads on where I may have gone wrong!

Thank you... Thank you... Jamie :-)

Old thread... but Dave McKenzie has sent me a new version of UNDEL2.
Both the former version and the new one can be downloaded from Think400.dk

Lifesaver!! We had a programmer confuse his logic and delete the opposite of what he wanted to this morning in our email address file.

                      Thanks

If the file is journaled it's easy to retreive the records without any tools

Re: un-delete records in a table

Alas, the business unit owners never set DR requirements for this box (other than 21 save, weekly & daily backups, and have the box back up in three days) or I'd have a journal on it for replication purposes. If we had the extra space I'd journal more than we do for times when this particular programmer goes rogue.

Glad we could help ....... DBU also has a undelete function and comes with DBUJRN (journals)..
all for a very cheap price...
