  • Difference b/w SNDUSRMSG and SNDMSG

    Hi,

Can anyone tell me the difference between sndusrmsg and sndmsg?.
One diffrnce i could find was that u cannot use msg's stored in msgfile in SNDMSG.
and that u cannot use SNDUSRMSG from command line
    Is there any other difference?

    Thanks,
    Jenin.

I am sure but tell us what you are tying to do and we might be able to point you in the right direction.

You also have the sndpgmmsg command available as well.

Re: Difference b/w SNDUSRMSG and SNDMSG

Apart from the differences that you have mentioned,

      To user profile . . . . . . . . Name, *SYSOPR, *ALLACT...

in this parameter of both the commands, *ALLACT type is an extra for SNDMSG.
It won't be available for SNDUSRMSG.

      Using *ALLACT,
A copy of the message is sent to the user profile
message queue of each user profile with an interactive
job currently running. *ALLACT cannot be specified
      with inquiry messages.

This is the reason SNDMSG will used when operators wants to send the messages to all profiles reg system shutdowns, maintenances etc .....
      Thanks,
      Giri

Re: Difference b/w SNDUSRMSG and SNDMSG

I experienced some problems when i tried using SNDUSRMSG in Synon (Using Synon's EXCMSG), however SNDMSG worked perfectly.
I am wondering whether it has something to with Synon or the commands themselves.
