    Resetting the QSECOFR Password

You can use the Dedicated Service Tools (DST) security capability
password to reset the QSECOFR password to its initial value (QSECOFR):

Set the keylock switch or electronic keystick to the Manual position
    and perform an attended IPL.

Select option 3 (Use DST) from the IPL or Install the System menu.

Enter the DST security capability user ID and password on the DST
    Sign-On display.

Select option 5 (Work with DST environment) from the Use DST

Select option 11 (Change DST User Profiles) from the Work with
DST Environment menu. You will see the Change DST User Profiles menu:

You receive a confirmation message telling you that the system

You see the IPL or Install the System menu.
Select option 1 (Perform an IPL).
The system continues with a manual IPL.
When the IPL completes, return the keylock switch or electronic

        Re: reset qsecofr password

I was searching for something and saw this old post and remembered I'd found the info I'd been looking for. Thought I'd post it. These are at least the notes I have written down. This is for reseting the DST QSECOFR

        On the HMC

        1. Service Applications - Service Focal Point - Service Utilities.
        2. Click to highlight System, and click Selected at top of window.
        3. Select Operator Panel Service Functions.
        4. In the Operator Panel Service Functions window, select the partition, then click on Partition Functions.
        5. Select Activate Dedicated Service Tools (21) - i5/OS.

Service Tools logon should now be displayed on the console.

Back on the 5250 display will be the Service Tools logon, log on using the service tools user id and password (QSECOFR/QSECOFR).

The next screen will ask for the current password (QSECOFR) and a new password.
