As of release of DeskfIT v1.12, ChangefIT v2.32, XrefIT v1.24, each product will be chargeable and will no longer be free. The current versions as at 31 March 2011 (DeskfIT v1.11, ChangefIT v2.31, XrefIT v1.23) will remain free, but no support will be provided once superseded.
The good news though, is that customers that have a current Upgrade Plan (previously known as Upgrade Facility) for a specific product will not have to purchase that product. As a special thank you to existing customers, customers that have a current Upgrade Plan for a specific product as at 01 April 2011 may convert immediately to a maintenance plan for that product.
There are two types of purchase methods to obtain EcofIT products.
Direct Purchase Plan
This plan allows the customer to purchase a permanent license for one of the EcofIT products. There is no provision on this plan to upgrade the product or receive any fixes or patches.
A customer may also optionally purchase a Maintenance Plan to allow for quality support and the seamless application of any fixes or upgrades to the product as they are released. The Maintenance Plan runs for one year and is payable whether there are releases or not, but is cheaper than the Upgrade Facility.
Upgrade Plan
With the purchase of an Upgrade Plan, there is no need to purchase a product directly. The existing Upgrade Plan will continue but with two major changes:

- If no release containing an upgrade or a new feature (i.e. BugFix'es are excluded) for one calendar year, the Upgrade Plan will be extended for one year without charge.
- The minimum period of an Upgrade Plan before which one may choose to convert an Upgrade Plan to a Maintenance Plan is two years.
