  • How can install LPEX or WDSC with ibm i V7

    Hello,

    I fresh new developer in COBOL/400, and i'm trying to found a way to develop with windows editor (or LPEX or WDSC). I'm not confortable with terminal SEU view.
    But i dont where i can download LPEX or WDSC and how to seting up it.

    If anyone can help ?

    Sorry my english is not very good, i'am basically french.

    You can get a trial copy of RDi here. https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/downloads/r/rdi/ This is a paid for tool though.

    Since it is cobol and not RPG you can look into https://sourceforge.net/projects/coplug/. You can write it on the PC but then transfer it up to the IBM i. Orion might have a plugin for cobol that is a web editor that sits on the i. You might be able to use that too.

      If CDs or DVDs from older releases are still kept on site, you might find a copy of WDSC 7 on one of them. It should fine for both ILE COBOL and COBOL/400 (though I don't know why COBOL/400 would be used under IBM i 7.1 or later). I never used WDSC 7 on Windows after XP, but there are ways to make it work.
