  • Access Root File System from Another IBM i

I have been asked if there is a way to access the root file system of one IBM i system from another one. That would include using CL commands (e.g. CPYFRMIMPF) and Qshell commands. I don't think such can be done, but since I'm not a networking expert, I thought I'd better ask you guys to be sure. Can you confirm or deny?

BTW, using FTP is out of the question.

Depending on networking, do you mean like CPYFRMIMPF fromstmf( '/QFileSvr.400/remoteiIPAddress/myfile.csv' ) tofile( )...?

Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth?

Yes, Tom, that's exactly what I mean. I've never had to use QFileSvr.400 & I forgot all about it. Thanks.

I suppose you could also use NFS or perhaps even go via /QNTC.
