    What is an IFS file and what is the purpose of CPYTOSTMF command ?

    Do your self a favor and type the CPYTOSTMF on a green screen, then press F4. Now move your cursor to the top of the screen and press F1(help).

      Or look in the back of the book.... Usually important terms are defined in the glossary.

        IFS is short for Integrated File System which is more or less a file system built on top of the native HFS (Hierarchal File System). the IFS is pretty much like the standard file systems used by Windows, Linux, etc.

        CPYTOSTMF/CPYFRMSTMF are copy functions to manipulate files located on the IFS. on all other platforms/OS's all files are "stream" files. Stream files basically are in essence a huge "flat" file with delimiters, etc. (of course there are differences in all types of stream files(i.e. .XLS, .CSV, etc)
