  • Negative Allocations

We are on a drinks vertical of Systyem21 (v352).

In INP60, an item shows an Physical On-Hand Quantity. As orders are received during the day, the Allocated Quantity (SALC60) goes Negative. This increases the Available quantity (SAVL60) falsely, causing over allocation of product. I run the Allocation Reconciliation (22/DIU) to correct this and it does. But within a few days, there is a new group of items which have a Negative SAVL60. What can cause this?

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Re: Negative Allocations

Do you allow negative stock balances on this/your stockroom/s?
Why/How do you manage to get negative SALC60's?

      No negativity allowed for stockrooms.

We are gettng negative allocations, not stockroom balances, however the available balance increases due the decrease in allocations.

AFAIK, but I haven't worked with the Drinks Module, you should never go into negative allocations. I checked ours (about 12 years data) and we have none. Is this a recent occurrence or has it always done it? i.e. before any mods were introduced.

          Re: Negative Allocations

This recently started happening with a new stockroom we created to consolidate several older stockrooms. Yeah, allocations should not go negative, but it is happening.

We have added new to code to process the assembly and confirmation of the orders, but the allocation process has remained unchanged.

I am grasping for anything to determine the cause.

            Re: Negative Allocations

Check the INP60A (Audit file). That will give you all the reductions to SALC60 and the program that is causing the reduction. Then you'll have to slog through which ones are valid and which ones are not.

              Thanks Kit.

We looked at the audit file for INP60 yesterday, and we are not logging the allocations to the audit file due to the volume.

You have sparked some new thoughts though.

                Re: Negative Allocations

You could start the INP60 audit and stop it after a few days. A couple of SQLs and you should be able pinpoint the problem area.

Thanks again Kit for your suggestions. We turned on the auditing for the allocations temporarily and found the offending code.

How do you turn the logging off and on? Just curious.

                    Thanks!

We wrote records to INP60A in the program that does the assembly and confirmation temporarily until we found the culprit.

We created a little trigger for a couple of days.
