Hello again,

I'm trying to test a report created from journal entries and nothing is being selected after the DSPJRN command and placed in my file so I was wondering....

I'm adding records and making changes to existing records in a file using DBU and I'm starting to think that modifying records in this way somehow bypasses journaling, can this be true?

This isn't my first journal report, but it is the first time here in this shop. (I've had all kinds of stuff go wrong here because it's a JD Edwards shop but I'm trying to be positive.)

I've checked the obvious like;
Authority - no issue there.
Files selected for journaling - yes.
Proper Journal Codes - yes.
Proper Journal Entry Type Codes - yes.

Ok, here's the deal:

An IBM Business Partner wrote our customer software in the late 80s. It's done what we need to over the past 25 years, but it's a lot of screens to maneuver around. In those days, you were restricted to 24x80.

I've been asked to look into having something GUI which could get more information on screens. (Basically, one of the owners pulled up http://finance.yahoo.com/ and said, "we really could use something that looks like this.")

The issues that they are wanting me to address are:
1) The younger generation thinks green screen is nothing but garbage (perception is reality). They are concerned that this will make it difficult to attract/retain employees.
2) Admittedly, our current system is a bit cumbersome (but was cutting edge when the S/36 was in its heyday). Part of their desire is to have something more intuitive. The point that was brought up is "If you go to buy an airline ticket, the website has to be intuitive or else they lose the customer's business."

So... my questions are:
1) What would be the best way to address how we might move forward?
2) Do I need to move beyond RPG to achieve this?

I'm not sure what questions I should be asking you guys, but I need to start gathering information to report back and have no idea where to begin.

Just spent 4 hours in searching for a problem, which would not have been a problem if my collegue would add some comments into his source code.
:chain-gun::chain-gun::chain-gun:

Yesterday evening an other collegue compiled a program because he did not write but only added 2 statements.

After compiling our WebApplication run very very slowly. 5 Minutes for a simple screen.
We ended our webserver and restarted it, nothing. All jobs run ok, no message wait no joblog entry, .... nothing.

Yesterday evening and this morning I searched and debugged and tested to find what happened. ... and finally I found it.
The program my colleague compiled yesterday evening, must be compiled with USRPRF(*OWNER), because 2 APIs were called to switch the User Profile, which need a very high authority.
... There was not a single comment somewhere in the source nor elsewhere about this compile option.:duh:duh
... and within the program code when calling the APIs extention (E) was set, but %ERROR not checked.
:chain-gun::chain-gun:

... a small comment would make the life so much easier!
